"Apparition of Face and Fruit Dish on a Beach" by Salvador Dalí

I am absolutely thrilled that my all-time favourite painting is on display, this summer (2009)! The "Surreal Things" exhibit is showing at AGO, Toronto's ART GALLERY OF ONTARIO, ending August 30. Included is "Apparition of Face and Fruit Dish on a Beach" by Salvador Dalí, the greatest painting ever painted, in my opinion. Dalí totally blows my mind. The painting is the side view of a dog, but different parts of the dog are different things at the same time. The dog's head is a mountain; its eye is a tunnel in the mountain; its snout is a sand bar; the dog's collar is an aqua duct, and several other things are several other things at the same time. I've owned a poster of the painting for many years.

Here's an article about the show:

The Ella Gallup Sumner and Mary Catlin Sumner Collection Fund. It is one of the works being shown by the Art Gallery of Ontario as part of the Surreal Things exhibit. Running through Aug. 30, 2009, the collection - organized by London's Victoria and Albert Museum - includes over 180 pieces from such renowned surreal artists as Dalí, Giorgio de Chirico and Marcel Duchamp.
