Did you ever feel more than one way about me?
Did you ever feel more than one way about which way we were going
And what our place in time and space would be?
Did you ever change your mind in midsentence?
Did you ever wash your hands of what might have been?
Did you ever wonder how the stars could shine so in the darkness
And how they stole your heart and handed it to me?
Did you ever see the sunset as a death,
Yet as a new day half a world away?
Did you ever think the gasp at the beauty
Could be your very last breath,
Yet fear the sunset's beauty would make you stay?
Did you ever wonder why . . .
Why all these questions?
Were the answers ever what you wished to see?
Did you ever feel more than one way about something?
Did you ever feel more than one way about me?
