"SLIMY BEAUTIFUL HIDEOUS CREATURE"

Today was weird. It was my ninth anniversary in this apartment unit, and I found a big, black slug in the building lobby, undulating across the floor, near a leaf. So, instead of killing him, I just moved the leaf to the slug until he slugged himself onto it, and then I flew the slug on a magic leaf carpet ride outside and landed the leaf and its passenger safely in the grass. It made me feel good ;-)

When I first saw him undulating across the lobby floor, it made me sing (in my head) the song lyrics, "Inch worm, inch worm, measuring the marigold...." That was the moment he turned from a hideous slime tube into a beautiful creature, in my mind.

And I just noticed the irony, that a dead leaf of autumn helped prolong the life of the slimy, beautiful, hideous creature.
